Choose the Right Road Freight Company
It is essential to choose the right road freight company based on the type of freight and the service required.
Road freight operators can vary greatly in the service they provide and the type of freight they “like” to carry. Some prefer to only move parcel freight, while others prefer palletised freight. There are operators who only service a “small” region, while others service main towns Australia wide. In some remote towns, the local road freight company acts as an agent for many of the major road freight operators.
CASAIR Freight has the knowledge and expertise to assess each job and take into consideration the weight & dimensions of the freight as well as the route it needs to travel, we then determine the best way to book this in to fit the customer’s budget and time frame.
Departure Schedules and Transit Times
Operator’s departure times and transit times are two other factors that can influence the way a consignment gets forwarded by road service. Some operators may leave weekly while others depart daily. Some line hauls take only 2-3 days while others stop at a variety of locations, which can result in transit times of 7-10 days. When planning road movements, we need to consider weather conditions, strikes, road closures and rail disruptions.
Our team is equipped to handle any challenges that may arise during the decision-making process. We stay up-to-date with any current road closures, rail disruptions, weather issues, strike action, or other challenges that may affect your consignment. We ensure that your freight is routed accordingly to avoid any delays or disruptions.
Special Requirements for Large Items
At CASAIR Freight, we understand that large items may require special handling and equipment. Our team ensures that the appropriate lifting equipment is available at both pick-up and delivery and may book a side lifter, hiab, or tail-lift if necessary. We also handle oversize loads that require pilot vehicles, Main Roads permits, and coordination with Western Power to lift lines on-route.
Budgeting and Planning
When budgeting or planning, you should consider any additional surcharges like fuel, oversize, manual handling and remote delivery. CASAIR Freight knows who is charging which surcharges. We make sure to quote all applicable surcharges based on the carrier/carriers that we use for your shipment.
